“I had always wanted to try pilates, and see if it could help me. But, I didn’t have the time for a live class, and as I sometimes get pain that prevents me from going anywhere, I loved the idea of being able to do these sessions from home.
My biggest challenge is with pelvic pain which I was curious whether it originated from a bad alignment or other physical conditions that pilates could help with. Because of the intensity of the pain and how much energy it takes out of me every time I am in pain, it was important for me to find a solution that would help me lessen the pain, and find what caused it in the first place.
Gill gave me clear exercises to do, to help with pelvic mobility and pain, and to help release tensions in the back. I also loved that she made sure I had the right position to do these exercises.
Before I met Gill, I felt that I was already connected with my body in many ways, but had a sense that my lower body was not in alignment with the rest of my body, and that my lower back was blocked, creating pain when I was sitting too long, and incorrect body position. The exercises she showed me helped me unblock my back, understand and feel my deep pelvic muscles, and reconnect even further to my body. Since I started working with Gill, found that my posture has improved, and that there are particular seats I should avoid for too long, and what to replace those with. So now, even though I am still sitting for a long time every day, I feel more in control of my pain, because I have found a few positions and options which help me reduce it.
I am now more conscious of the whole alignment of my body, and that helps me get out of positions that would create pain if prolonged.” AS

She was working with the athletes to improve mobility and improve their core strength through Pilates and re-alignment massage. “As an ultra runner with a fairly stressful job and busy life I was keen to find a place to learn how to improve my performance and maintain optimal physical and mental health and an environment with a personal and positive approach. I was seeking help with my lack of core stability and strength, poor flexibility and commitment to stretching, prior injuries (knee/hip) and desire to protect my longevity in my sporting pursuits, which would also help my stress levels.
After a few weeks learning the basics I finally understood the powerful impact that Pilates could have on my body and health. Gill is a patient, clear and calming teacher who took the time with me to correct and improve and advance my techniques. I found studio classes, and now online sessions a sanctuary where I could focus on perfecting my techniques and always feel taller, calmer and empowered after each session. Over the longer term my core shape tightened and I was more focused on other areas of my life that would enhance the benefits experienced from Pilates. I feel stronger, leaner, taller and more positive about my body and how it could grow stronger and more capable. I have shared these benefits with others, encouraging them to take up classes.
My best take away is posture awareness! Shoulder position and engaging my core! Sitting and standing tall. And stretching to improve tight hips. I regularly do a few of the moves I’ve learned from Gill when in the gym. Also incorporate the more relaxing techniques to aid sleep/reduce stress.” AH
“Before the session with Gill I was sceptical if doing Pilates can actually work virtually. By all means I am not a Pilates expert, and from the few sessions I have had in my life, I knew that it needs close attention by the trainer to get it right in a way the exercises actually work. Gill had a great and gentle way to lead me through exercises. And when asked to do a flow all by myself, she was quick to spot where I was ‘cheating’ and she always knew when my posture wasn’t quite right. Loved it and will book again! “Gill gave me the opportunity to experience an online Pilates lesson. I am an absolute beginner. Gill could see, through the camera, if I was performing the exercise as supposed or that my back or hips were not in the right position. “Transforming classes. In a very short space of time (about 10-12 classes) Gill’s classes increased my core strength to a level I have probably never had before in my life. The lower back pain I have been plagued with for about 15 years has gone. Her classes cover your whole range of movement. So much of your concentration is required that class leaves you feeling like you have been doing a bit of meditation too.
