“To be present in our body is a form of awareness, and it is a first step to being kind to ourselves and to others. In coming into our own body we become connected to our greater home, the earth; we become a part of the earth and she a part of us.” ~Linda Hartley

WHAT THE CLIENTS SAY...

Audrey, Switzerland

“I had always wanted to try pilates, and see if it could help me. But, I didn’t have the time for a live class, and as I sometimes get pain that prevents me from going anywhere, I loved the idea of being able to do these sessions from home.

My biggest challenge is with pelvic pain which I was curious whether it originated from a bad alignment or other physical conditions that pilates could help with. Because of the intensity of the pain and how much energy it takes out of me every time I am in pain, it was important for me to find a solution that would help me lessen the pain, and find what caused it in the first place.

Gill gave me clear exercises to do, to help with pelvic mobility and pain, and to help release tensions in the back. I also loved that she made sure I had the right position to do these exercises.

Before I met Gill, I felt that I was already connected with my body in many ways, but had a sense that my lower body was not in alignment with the rest of my body, and that my lower back was blocked, creating pain when I was sitting too long, and incorrect body position. The exercises she showed me helped me unblock my back, understand and feel my deep pelvic muscles, and reconnect even further to my body. Since I started working with Gill, found that my posture has improved, and that there are particular seats I should avoid for too long, and what to replace those with. So now, even though I am still sitting for a long time every day, I feel more in control of my pain, because I have found a few positions and options which help me reduce it.

I am now more conscious of the whole alignment of my body, and that helps me get out of positions that would create pain if prolonged.” AS

“Before the session with Gill I was sceptical if doing Pilates can actually work virtually. By all means I am not a Pilates expert, and from the few sessions I have had in my life, I knew that it needs close attention by the trainer to get it right in a way the exercises actually work. Gill had a great and gentle way to lead me through exercises. And when asked to do a flow all by myself, she was quick to spot where I was ‘cheating’ and she always knew when my posture wasn’t quite right. Loved it and will book again! Thank you so much for the experience!” FB

“In most, if not all, of my various outdoor sporting pursuits, I’m often and all too routinely told of the need to “engage my core.” After more than 20 years of forlornly trying to do so, Gill has articulated to me perfectly what this actually means.   Through her vast knowledge I finally understand how everything links and works together to maximise both my performance and all round health. Through her guidance and online sessions, she has allowed me to both maintain and indeed improve my athletic performance over time. As a result, I look forward to many, many more years of high class triathlon and adventure racing performance. Thanks a million Gill!” SM

“There is a wisdom in the body, a wisdom in feeling, that when accessed and allowed to operate in conjunction with our cognitive capacities, leads to a deeper, wiser, more integrated life. So we need to get back to the body, which involves much more than just dropping it off at yoga classes or fitness facilities or medical offices. We can get our body more flexible, more fit, and more powerful, and we can load it up with the finest supplements and organic fare, and still be out of touch with it. Getting back to the body means doing whatever is needed to cut through our disembodied experience, which in part means a journey into and through the very pain that first drove us to dissociate from our body. In permitting a fuller, saner embodiment of our essential nature, we make possible a deeper life for ourselves, a life in which we cannot help but breathe integrity into our stride, and develop a deep intimacy with all that we are.” ~Robert Augustus Masters
